Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

BuyNow ("we", "us") operates the BuyNow app and services. This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the rights you have. We handle your data in line with the Nigeria Data Protection Act and the NDPR.

2. Information we collect

Account details: your name, email, phone number and password when you register.

Delivery information: the addresses you save, recipient details for gifts and parcels, and delivery instructions.

Order and payment data: items you order, amounts, wallet balance, promo and referral activity, and transaction references. Card payments are processed by Paystack, we do not store your full card number.

Location data: with your permission, your device location to set your delivery address, find nearby vendors, and (for the proximity nudge) tell you when you're far from your saved address. You can change this permission at any time in your device settings.

Communications: messages you exchange with your rider in the order chat, and support requests.

Device and usage data: app version, device type, and basic diagnostics needed to run and improve the Service.

3. How we use your information

To create and manage your account, process and deliver your orders and parcels, take payment, issue refunds to your wallet, and provide customer support.

To connect you with vendors and assign riders, and to let you and your rider coordinate the delivery.

To show you vendors and offers relevant to your delivery area, run promotions and referrals, and prevent fraud and abuse.

To send you order updates and important service messages (for example by push notification, SMS or email), and to meet our legal obligations.

4. Who we share it with

Vendors and riders involved in your order, so they can prepare and deliver it. Riders receive the delivery address and contact details needed to reach you; gift recipients' details are shared for that delivery.

Service providers who help us run BuyNow, including Paystack (payments), Google (maps and address lookup), and our hosting, messaging and notification providers, who may only use the data to provide those services to us.

Authorities or third parties where we're required to by law, or to protect the rights, safety and property of BuyNow, our users, vendors or riders.

We do not sell your personal data.

5. Location data

Location is used only to power delivery features, setting your address, finding nearby vendors, and the optional "you seem far from your saved address" reminder. The app asks for permission before reading your location, and you can revoke it any time in your device settings without losing the ability to set an address manually.

6. How long we keep it

We keep your personal data for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Service, then for any period required to meet legal, tax, accounting or dispute-resolution obligations. Order and chat records may be retained to support refunds, safety and compliance.

7. Your rights

Subject to applicable law, you can ask to access, correct, or delete your personal data, object to or restrict certain processing, and withdraw consent (such as location access) at any time. To exercise these rights, contact us at privacy@buynow.ng.

You can also close your account, which will remove or de-identify your personal data except where we're required to keep it. See our Support page for how to delete your account.

8. Security

We use technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections and secure payment processing through Paystack. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep your information safe and to notify you and the relevant authority if a breach affecting you occurs, as required by law.

9. Children

BuyNow is not intended for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we'll remove it.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We'll change the "last updated" date above and, for material changes, let you know in the app.
